Häagen-Dazs Loves Honeybees

Häagen-Dazs ice cream has been showing their love for bees lately. It's a bit of a marketing approach, but the end result is the same, regardless. You see, bees have been dieing off and the company (along with Mother Nature) needs the striped insect to maintain their use of 1 million pounds of almonds a year. To help save the bees, Häagen-Dazs is developing an area dedicated to bees at the University of California, Davis - an area that will include a half-acre, $65,000 bee-garden. Sweet! The country's capital, Beijing, has a new restaurant that hopes to cater to the city's WoW fans with "screens playing animations from the game, a full-sized suit of armor, fantasy-inspired murals, and menu items named after characters." Could this become an international gamer's destination? [via Jaunted]

Giving The Gift Of Trash This Holiday Season

Christmas is a wasteful time of year. Wrapping paper and discarded packages. Month-old Christmas trees and leftover snacks. All of it gets pitched in the trash and eventually finds it's way to the landfill. The North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources says the holiday season increases the nation’s trash by an extra 1 million tons per week between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve.
